The Western Washington University (WWU) Lunch & Learn series explores topics that enhance the health and wellbeing of our community, environment, and planet, using the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges as our guide.
This series is a collaborative effort from Joyce Lopes, Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs, Dr. Sislena Ledbetter, Associate Vice President for Counseling, Health, and Wellbeing, and Faye Gallant, Assistant Vice President for Strategy, Management & Budget.

11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Indigenous Approaches to Resilience and Wellbeing in Higher Education
In line with WWU’s adoption of the Okanagan Charter, this session will infuse Indigenous concepts to explore the importance of fostering a healthy work environment and its impact on productivity and morale. We will examine the intersection of Indigenous identity and higher education to help us understand the significance of building strategies for resilience and wellbeing in our communities. The session will then explore Indigenous concepts and ideas for wellness and wellbeing.

11:00 a.m. - 11:50 a.m. Estate Planning 101 - The Importance of Planning Ahead
Join attorneys Erin Glass and Matt Hammatt on November 12th for Estate Planning 101. You will learn the basics, including the use of Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Community Property Agreements, Durable Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives (also known as Living Wills or Advanced Directives). Erin and Matt will also discuss the importance of the beneficiary designations you have in place for your retirement accounts and any life insurance you may have. They will also touch on charitable giving through your estate. You will leave this session with a clearer understanding of the basic documents we should all have in place.

Join us for a Lunch and Learn session on Western Washington University's Employee Resource Groups. Learn about the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Advocacy Council (LGBTAC), which advocates for LGBTQ+ inclusion and support at WWU. The Faculty and Staff of Color Council (FSOCC) works to advance diversity and social engagement for faculty and staff of color. The Caregivers and Parents Group (CaP) focuses on enhancing the recruitment and retention of diverse staff and faculty by addressing the unique needs of parents and caregivers. This session is an opportunity to explore how these Employee Resource Groups create community across the University and how you can get involved.
